How did I end up here?

So who is Pedro and more importantly how can I help you?

I want to share my story because I believe the more we understand each other and where we are coming from, the more we can connect and truly be able to help each other

The first thing you should know about me is that I’m not your typical yoga instructor. I’m as hyperactive and ambitious as it comes. I worked my whole career in the aggressive and cut-throat hedge fund industry. I once was a wanna-be pro tennis player. And most of my life I’ve been immersed in the apex our extremely ambitious, fast-paced, materialistic, stressful, superficial, and, at times, self-destructive day to day society (ie the trading industry)

So no, I’m not your typical happy Lalaland yoga teacher (well I am a very chill and happy person, but also ambitious and hyperactive!). But I can say I have found inner peace and a higher level of consciousness through my yoga practice, even in this crazy society we live in. And my closeness with the “real” world that most of us live in helps me to connect and meet each one of you where you are. And that is the best way I can help

If you are still interested, on to my story: I grew up in Madrid, Spain. I consider myself to be one of the luckiest kids in the world given I had the kindest and best parents I could ask for and I lived a privileged life by most accounts. Since I was ~12 years old I devoted 90% of my waking hours to tennis, being the next Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer was my dream (Alcaraz beat me to it, damn…). After high school I spent a year competing in the pro tennis tour and when I was 19yo I decided to take go and study in New York while playing in my university’s tennis team

I spent the next phase of my life in New York. First studying finance, and then working in Wall Street in trading. This was Wolf of Wall Street kind of job with 100s of traders and salesman screaming all day long on the floor, not a very yogi friendly environment... Then I moved to London to be closer to home while still working in the City and moving on to a hedge fund, the next step in the “dream golder path finance” career. London was still the 100% money driven, aggressive, and long work hours industry as in New York. But definitely a notch more chilled-out environment given the European culture

Now you may be asking how does yoga fit in all of this? Well… my first experiences with yoga came when I was a 16-17 yo playing tennis. I can’t remember where I heard about yoga (maybe it was through some animes that I got into it? I don’t know). All I remember is that I used to do yoga following random Youtube videos in my room. I was too shy and insecure back then so I would basically hide fearing what others may think of it!

But my deep connection with yoga developed when I moved to London. Right next to where I lived in Shoreditch I found my first proper yoga studio, Tripspace, where I started trying out yoga in an attempt to relax after a full day of stress (and screaming around!) in the office. I discovered Rocket yoga for the first time with my first Sensei (thank you Lita) and fell in love with it! Rocket combined the meditative and introspective side of yoga, with the intense and challenging hand balancing that I became addicted to. I started a regular practice in 2017 and yoga kept only becoming a more and more important part of my life with time. And my wife Vrynda, who is a proper yogi master, helped to guide me through it all

In 2020, I decided to take it a step further by taking yoga teacher trainings in Rocket, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Yin and starting to teach to friends and family. 2022 was my main breakthrough year. I took a long-planned break from my 80hr/week job in finance to 100% focus on myself, my personal yoga, movement, and introspective practice for a full year. I moved with my wife to Bali and India to train with some of the best yoga and fitness minds in the world (only to then realize that London is actually one of the best places in the world for yoga!)

After over a year of the “real” world, by end-2023 I was at crossroads: should I go on teaching yoga full time (you can find out more about why I want to teach yoga in my mission section), or should I go back to finance and balance the two? As I realize more and more, sometimes is easier to let thing run their course and flow with whatever comes. So as an amazing opportunity came out of nowhere, that gave me the flexibility I need to continue teaching (in a great chill and flexible environment, unheard of in finance!), I knew it was the right answer

I love helping others more than I even thought possible once I started teaching. And the fact that I’ve lived and continue living through the chaos of modern day life gives me the chance to meet most of you where you are. To understand the stress of modern day life and give you the tools that helped me in the past and help me today to gain balance and feel connected with the whole. I want to share my path and be able to help as many people as possible through understanding and constructive growth, not through indifference and criticism

I hope you find something useful in my story, writings, and teachings so that we are able to reach higher levels of consciousness together, see you on the mat!

“The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.”
